There is much truth in jest. Our country - thanks to later era third class politicians - unless we genuinely reset, or get actual change:

We should be aiming for & only applauding HIGH growth rates in our GDP at the small size our economy is. Other powerhouses grew at 12-20+% at early stages of development. Averages around/above 9% per year. Ahead of all 3 of these countries at Independence. Won't catch up if our targets are so low:

Protecting our Reserves and Safeguarding the Integrity of our Public Service This is what Ceylon HAD in 1948. Sadly third class politicians (most thus far post 1955) squandered the former & destroyed the latter thanks to their IMPOSED politicised constitutions from the 1970s (which we still suffer)

Note the difference between a proper Foreign policy adopted by Singapore (something Ceylon used to have for at least 8 years after 1948) versus the Indian appeasement our modern day politicians engage in. Awarelogue article:

Our modern era leaders in Sri Lanka have no real vision or aim to get somewhere big. Compare that to others who have overtaken and still aim to be the best (not merely some Indian vassal state and also ran):

Compared to the 1950s, Ceylon's economy is less integrated/relevant to the global economy today! Exports to GDP has gone DOWN from 28% to 14%. If we want to do better, compare to those who in EAST Asia who have done BETTER, NOT the worse South Asian countries (like our modern era politicians do):
