Alterous attraction is an attraction best described as wanting emotional closeness. Without necessarily being, at all or entirely, platonic &/or romantic and is used in the place of -romantic or -platonic (ie. bi-alterous instead of bi-romantic). It is an attraction that can’t be described as neither being entirely or completely platonic nor romantic. The term is often used amongst the ace/aro communities.
